Oplevelser, fællesskab og 10,8 knob
De seneste dage har været nogle dage fyldt med masser af oplevelser både på vores egen fantastiske båd. Men først som lovet lidt om vores besøg på skoleskibet Danmark mandag.
Det var meget spændende for os, at få en rundvisning på skibet, som ligger på Værft i Assens.
En meget sød rundviser Nanna, som selv havde sejlet med på skoleskibet viste os rundt. Hun fortalte gode fortællinger, om, hvordan det var at være med på sådan et 3 måneders togt, hvor hun havde været over Atlanten 2 gange på hendes togt.
De er 80 elever på hver togt, så det er mange og vi var noget imponeret over, hvor lidt plads de har, når de alle sover i hængekøjer. Så er kahytterne på vores båd jo nærmest en luksuskahyt.
Tirsdag var Klaes stået tidligere op for at lave boller til os alle – Mums og der er ovenikøbet mere dej, så vi får helt sikkert friskbagte boller igen.
Tirsdag var det så vores tur til at vise Nanna fra Skoleskibet Danmark vores Oceans of Hope før vi tog videre.
Vi fik også en snak om, hvem der er deltager på vores togter og vigtigheden af, at vi har vores gode frivillige, som gør en kæmpe forskel ved at prioriterer 1-2 uger af deres sommer for at give os MS’er denne unikke oplevelse. Så håber vi hører fra Nanna igen, da hun synes det kunne være meget spændende at være frivillig matros ved os. Hun skal i hvert fald være velkommen til at tage kontakt.
Som lovet får I nogle billeder herunder fra rundvisningen, hvor Skoleskibet var meget rodet pga. renoveringen. Men det er stadigvæk et meget flot skib på trods af det, og vi var alle ret imponeret over at se det, og ikke mindst skibets mange flotte gamle detaljer.
Tirsdag fortsatte vores togt videre mod Sønderborg. Vi havde igen en dag med lidt blandet vejr. Men heldigvis knap så meget regn. Der var også en lille intern konkurrence blandt os MS’er om, hvem der kunne få båden til at sejle hurtigst…. Dagens hurtigste fart blev 10,8 Knob.
Vel ankommet til Sønderborg tog vi et smut hen til Hotel Alsik og op i Point of View, hvor der er 380 graders udsigt over Sønderborg by.
Tirsdag aften tog vi ud og spiste på restaurant, hvor vi fik fortalt gode røverhistorier.
Experiences, Friendship and 10.8 Knots
The past few days have been packed with wonderful experiences, both on board our own fantastic boat and along the way. But first, as promised, here is a little more about our visit to the training ship Danmark on Monday.
It was a really exciting experience for us to get a guided tour of the ship, which is currently at the shipyard in Assens.
Our lovely guide, Nanna, had actually sailed on Danmark herself and gave us a fantastic tour. She shared some great stories about what it is like to be part of a three-month voyage. During her voyage, she even crossed the Atlantic twice!
There are 80 students on each voyage, which is quite a few people. We were particularly impressed by how little space they have when everyone is sleeping in hammocks. Compared to that, the cabins on our boat are practically luxury accommodation! 😄
On Tuesday morning, Klaes had gotten up early to bake fresh bread rolls for all of us. Yummy! And there is still plenty of dough left, so we are definitely going to enjoy freshly baked rolls again. 🥐
Later that day, it was our turn to show Nanna from the training ship Danmark our Oceans of Hope before we continued our journey.
We also had a lovely chat about who takes part in our voyages and, not least, about the importance of our amazing volunteers. They make such a huge difference by choosing to spend one or two weeks of their summer with us and helping give us MSers this truly unique experience.
We certainly hope to hear from Nanna again, as she thought it would be really exciting to volunteer as a deckhand with us. She will definitely be very welcome to get in touch! ❤️
As promised, we have included some pictures from our tour below. The training ship was rather messy due to the ongoing renovation, but despite that, it is still a beautiful ship. We were all very impressed by it — and especially by all the wonderful old details that can still be seen throughout the ship.
On Tuesday, our voyage continued towards Sønderborg. Once again, we had a day of mixed weather, although fortunately with considerably less rain! 🌦️
There was also a little internal competition among us MSers about who could get the boat to sail the fastest… 😉 The top speed of the day was an impressive 10.8 knots!
Once safely arrived in Sønderborg, we headed over to Hotel Alsik and made our way up to the Point of View, where we enjoyed a spectacular 360-degree view of Sønderborg and the surrounding area. The view was absolutely beautiful! 🌅
Tuesday evening, we went out for dinner at a local restaurant, where we enjoyed a lovely meal and, of course, shared plenty of good stories and tall tales along the way. A perfect way to end another great day on our voyage! ⛵️❤️
